I am working on my 1967 cortez that is original. I am trying to keep that going. I cannot figure out who made the transmission or what model it is. I have looked at the manual and that is extremely helpful but no model info was found. I also have 2 slant six engines but 1 intake is a single barrel and the other is a dual barrel carb setup. I only have 1 single carb though. The engine that is new on a crate has the double. Ought I just purchase a double instead of trying to refurbish the old?

Hey Ryan! The reason you find no info regarding the transaxle, is that it was one of the few items that Clark manufactured themselves specifically for the Cortez. I would guess that some (if not most) of the internal components were off the shelf products from other manufacturers, but I’ve never been able to find any sort of cross-reference (I’ve been told that the ring gear was a standard ford 9″ gear). I would love to be able to find replacement synchros…

As to the carburetor, if you want to keep things looking original, you’d have to stick with the original 1BBL sidedraft. Otherwise, you have to raise the doghouse to make something else work.
